I’m learning/studying Wiccan & have read some books & done some basic rituals my? is?
I have found a good luck spell requiring several candles. I cast the circle of stones first & use candles for stones since I am indoors ( Plus I don’t want big rocks in my house) I will have probably 8 or 9 candles lit. I assume it’s necessary to cast the circle before any ritual but seeking confirmation. Thanks

The MAIN book I am reading is called WICCA by Scott Cunningham “A guide for the solitary practicioner”
First off, I am going to try and answer you’re question – but you need to understand that the reason that we are saying this doesn’t sound like Wicca is because *it doesn’t*. Many, many, many Wiccans don’t practice magic. Wicca is a religion primarily about honoring deity. Some Wiccans practice magic, some do not. I’ve been Wiccan for over 10 years and I’ve never cast a circle of stones. You’ll find all sorts of things written in books but that doesn’t mean they’re inherently “Wiccan”. It just means that an author has found them useful for *them*.
Ok, now I just so happen to have a copy of Wicca: Guide for the Solitary Practitioner handy and I find that it has something called “The Circle of Stones” on page 115 – I’m assuming this is what you are referring to when you’re talking about casting your circle of stones. If you’ll read through the whole of the directions, you’ll notice that it gives clear instructions for casting a circle at the bottom of page 117 and continuing on to page 118. So for what it appears that you are doing, yes, cast a circle.
If this is not what you are doing, then I don’t know what to tell you because without further information, I have no idea what “cast the circle of stones” means and in what context you are using it to mean.
To add – Seriously….. just because something says “circle of stones” doesn’t mean it has anything to do with Druids or for goodness sake, Celtic Recons….. *sheesh*
